JOE SALTEL - CALLER
Joe’s introduction to square dance calling came at the
early age of eight, when his grandfather assisted him in learning his first few singing calls. Joe has been actively
calling and teaching Basic through A-2 since 1971, and recently began calling C-1. He has been a featured caller for many
festivals, conventions, and special dances in over 38 states (including Alaska and Hawaii), Canada, Denmark, England, Japan,
Mexico, New Zealand and Sweden. Joe is a member of Callerlab and is BMI/ASCAP licensed. As a recording artist, his voice can
be heard on the Alliance, Chinook, DJ & Hi-Hat labels, as well as many CD’s and cassettes. Joe is also a member
of SAG, and he choreographed and appeared in a made-for-TV movie, “Blue Skies”. Joe and his wife Chris married
in 1982 & they have led eight successful tours/cruises. Chris held a managerial position for 19 years, and has always
supported Joe’s calling career. Their daughter, Tanya, is an accomplished young vocalist, 22 years old and attending
school. They all recently moved from their home of 19 years on the Northern California coast. Joe and Chris spend November
- April running a full square dance program in Pharr/McAllen, TX in the Rio Grande Valley: “The Square Dance Capital
of the World”. The remaining months they maintain a smaller program, tour and travel domestically & internationally
to call at festivals & special dances. Joe enjoys what he calls his vocation and avocation, and feels fortunate to be
part of this great activity.

TJ and Bruce Chadd - Cuers
TJ began square dancing in 1975 with a teen group in Boise. It was 5
years later that she took her first 2-Step lessons and her passion for round dancing began. TJ danced everywhere she went,
spending time in North Carolina; Okinawa, Japan; and Utah before returning to her hometown of Boise, Idaho in 1991. It was
while she was living in Okinawa in 1984 that a cuer friend handed her a microphone, some records and offering much encouragement,
asked her to give cueing a try. As for Bruce—he caught the square dance bug in 1995 after attending a square dance on
a blind date and sitting on the sidelines watching everyone else dance with his date all night. That fall he joined beginning
classes at 3 different square dance clubs, determined not to sit on the sidelines ever again. In the Spring of 1996 both TJ
and Bruce were looking for steady, dependable dance partners. They were introduced by mutual friends whose track record for
“matchmaking” included 5 other couples—all of whom were now happily married. Somehow, what started out as
“just dance partners” turned into “life partners” with a wedding in April of 1999. Bruce and TJ continue
to cue and teach phases II through V with Treasure Valley Rounds. Since they began teaching together in 1997, they have taught
and cued at several National Conventions and several USA West Square Dance Conventions. TJ and Bruce are currently members
of Roundalab serving on the Phase IV Round of the Quarter selection committee, the International Choreographed Ballroom Dance
Association, and locally the Intermountain Square and Round Dance Association. When not dancing or working (Bruce works full-time
as a local delivery driver at Yellow Freight and TJ works at Marriott SpringHill Suites in Boise as Human Resources and Accounting
Manager), they enjoy traveling, fishing, crafting and spending as much time as they can with their kids and grandkids.
